A Quiet Look is an original portrait oil painting by Yang Huaxi, centred on the face of a young girl.

Painted with loose, visible brushwork, the portrait balances softness with direct observation. Warm skin tones and lightly worked areas around the face keep the attention on the girl’s eyes and expression.

Rather than creating a highly polished likeness, Yang Huaxi leaves part of the painting open and spontaneous, giving the portrait a sense of immediacy and freshness.
