An old wooden boat rests among dry grass and uneven ground, far from the water it once belonged to.

Its dark rectangular form sits quietly against a restrained landscape of muted earth tones. A length of rope remains inside the boat, suggesting use without explaining the story behind it.

Yang Huaxi often pays attention to objects after their practical life has slowed or ended. Here, the boat becomes part of the land itself—weathered, still and gradually absorbed into its surroundings.

Rather than depicting abandonment dramatically, the painting observes what remains.
