Boy with a Red Rose is an original figurative oil painting by Chinese artist Yang Huaxi.
The composition centres on a child quietly holding a single red rose. Against the subdued clothing and neutral background, the flower becomes the strongest point of colour in the painting.
The work is not presented as a formal portrait. Instead, Yang Huaxi captures a small gesture and an unguarded moment, allowing the figure, flower and expression to create their own understated narrative.
A restrained palette, soft modelling and direct observation give the painting the quiet character found throughout Yang Huaxi’s figurative work.
