Quiet Gaze is an original female portrait painting by Yang Huaxi, portraying a Miao woman facing the viewer in traditional silver adornment.
The frontal composition gives the painting a direct but quiet presence. Details of the headdress and neck ornaments frame the face without overwhelming it, allowing expression and stillness to remain at the centre of the work.
This painting belongs to Yang Huaxi’s Miao Women series and brings together portrait painting, figurative observation, and the visual richness of traditional Miao dress.
