Women in Silver is an original figurative oil painting by Yang Huaxi, depicting a group of Miao women wearing traditional silver headdresses, layered ornaments, and red garments.
Rather than focusing on a single portrait, the composition is built through overlapping figures, shifting profiles, and repeated patterns of silver. One figure meets the viewer directly while others turn sideways or recede into the background, creating a quiet sense of movement and depth.
The silver adornments become an important visual structure within the painting, connecting the figures while allowing each woman to retain her own presence. Yang Huaxi avoids theatrical storytelling, instead observing gesture, clothing, and human relationships with restraint.
Part of the artist’s Miao Women series, this original work brings together figurative oil painting, group composition, traditional dress, and the quiet presence that runs throughout the series.
