Passing By is an original figurative oil painting by Yang Huaxi, depicting a line of people moving through the same space.
The figures are shown in profile and in motion, each caught at a slightly different moment. Instead of emphasizing individual identities, Yang Huaxi pays attention to gesture, distance, direction, and the rhythm created when people move together.
The composition turns an ordinary act — walking from one place to another — into a study of human movement. Clothing, posture, and spacing become part of the visual structure of the painting.
It is a characteristic example of Yang Huaxi’s interest in people in the moment: ordinary scenes observed without exaggeration, but held long enough to reveal their own rhythm.
