Profile of a Boy is an original portrait oil painting by Yang Huaxi, presenting a young boy in quiet side profile.
The composition is simple and restrained, allowing the viewer to focus on the shape of the head, the light falling across the face and the subtle transitions of skin tone. Yang Huaxi avoids unnecessary narrative detail, concentrating instead on observation, character and the calm presence of the sitter.
The result is a small, intimate figurative portrait that feels immediate without becoming sentimental.
