An old kettle rests on a worn stove surrounded by wood, cloth and the darkened surfaces of a lived-in interior.

Nothing in the scene has been arranged for display. The objects remain where they have been used, carrying traces of heat, labor and everyday life.

Through restrained color and close observation, Yang Huaxi turns this ordinary corner into a painting about material memory and the quiet persistence of things.
