Quiet Profile is an original portrait oil painting by Yang Huaxi, depicting a young Buyi woman in profile against a dark, restrained background.

The composition is simple and intimate, with soft light falling across the face and leaving much of the surrounding space in shadow. Rather than relying on dramatic expression, Yang Huaxi focuses on profile, posture, and subtle tonal changes to create a quiet sense of presence.

The painting reflects the artist’s long-standing interest in figurative and portrait painting, especially ordinary people observed with restraint rather than staged for effect. The subject’s Buyi identity adds cultural specificity, while the work remains first and foremost a calm, contemporary portrait.
